Alexander Grunden Obituary

Alexander Berron Grunden, 52, of St Marys, OH died 9:24 a.m. Friday, February 13, 2026 at JTDM Hospital in St. Marys, OH.

He was born March 6, 1973 in St. Marys, OH to Thomas L. and Georgia A. (Berron) Grunden 

He is survived by:

daughter Brookelle (Trent) Schoonover of St. Marys, OH

Son, Brandt Grunden of St. Marys, OH

Three grandchildren: Caruso, Rory and Tate Schoonover 

Mother Georgia Grunden of St. Marys, OH

Sister Lisa (Bob) Fitzgerald of St. Marys, OH

Sister Heather (Kevin) Glass of St. Marys, OH

Aunts, uncles,  cousins, nieces, nephews and close family friends James and Barbie 

Mabry, Chet Knous and Amy Tebbe. 

He was preceded in death by his father Thomas L. Grunden and sister Nanette S. Grunden. 

He was a graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School Class of 1991 and attended ITT Technical Institute in Dayton, OH.

He worked as a production laborer for 30+ years and was a union division chairman of the local 200L at American Rheinmetall Industries in St. Marys, OH. 

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in St. Marys, Grand Lake Recreation Club, and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1473 in Celina, OH.

Alex was a die hard supporter of all St. Marys Roughrider football programs and had coached midget football (St. Marys Stallions) for 25 years. 

Alex‘s favorite thing was to be on the lake. He was often seen with a 44 ounce Wild Cherry Pepsi "polar pop" in hand. Favorite past times included hanging out at Rustic Haven, boating and camping all summer long and also enjoyed playing poker with his friends. He was larger than life in every sense with a personality to match. 

Rites are scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday February 20, 2026 at the Miller Funeral Home 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West) in St. Marys.

Visitations will be 3 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Casual dress is encouraged.

On behalf of Alex, his family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for the overwhelming love and support shown to their family during his illness. He left this world knowing that he was loved and cared for by so many. This will never be forgotten.
