Betty E. Vannette, 84, of 152 Watercrest Drive, Saint Marys, Ohio, died 11:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 2, 2011, at her residence.
She was born February 9, 1926, in Berne, Indiana, the daughter of Jesse and
Velma (Habegger) Balsiger.
She married Burton L. Vannette in February 22, 1946 and he survives at the residence.
She is survived by her four children: Candy (Duane) Forlow of Celina; Dano (Bobbie) Vannette of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Doug (Becky) Vannette of Saint Marys; Curt (Bei) Vannette of Lima, Ohio; by 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; by a sister: Annabelle (Wayne) Dubach of Geneva, Indiana; by two brothers: Herman (Phyllis) Balsiger of Phoenix, Az; George (Vera) Balsiger of Berne, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by an infant brother.
Betty was a 1944 graduate of Hartford High School in Indiana. She retired from Reynolds and Reynolds Corp in Celina; she and her husband were the founders and operators of The Flower and Plant Barn in Saint Marys, Ohio. She was a member of Grace Missionary Church in Celina. Betty will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother and she loved spending time with her grandchildren. She also took great pride in her yard and enjoyed growing beautiful flowers.
Funeral rites will be held 2:00 Momday, February 7, 2011, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, Ohio, the Reverend Bruce Head, officiant. Burial will follow at Mercer Memory Gardens in Celina.
Friends may call from noon until the time of services on Monday.
