Selma Rebecca Katterheinrich, 95, formerly of New Knoxville, Ohio, and a resident of Dorothy Love Retirement Community, died Thursday, August 2, 2007, at Dorothy Love.
She was born April 23, 1912, in New Knoxville, the daughter of Christ and Anna (Elshoff) Katterheinrich.
She is survived by one sister, Esther Barr of Sidney, Ohio; by a niece, Carol Barr of Decatur, Illinois; by three nephews: Arnold Katterhenry of Clearwater, Florida (Note: Some of the family use the Americanized spelling of the family name i.e. Katterhenry) John Katterhenry of Cumming, Georgia; Thomas Barr of Costa Mesa, California.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Emil and Arnold Katterhenry; one sister, Edna Katterheinrich; a nephew, David Barr and her parents.
Selma was a 1930 graduate of New Knoxville High School and a graduate of Bowling Green State University. She had taught school in Kettlersville and for many years for the Saint Marys City Schools.
She was a lifelong member of the First United Church of Christ in New Knoxville, where she had been active in the Women’s Guild and had taught Sunday School for many years.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. Sunday, August 5, 2007, at the First United Church of Christ in New Knoxville, the Very Reverend Dr. David A. Williams, celebrant.
Burial will follow at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery, New Knoxville.
Friends may call one hour prior to services in the Heritage Room of the church, where memorial donations may be directed to either the Dorothy Love Life Care Fund or to the the Radio Broadcast Fund of the Church. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Vornholt- Miller Funeral Home, 200 West Spring Street, New Knoxville.
