Martha M. Hoelscher, 87, of 11008 Kettlersville Road, New Knoxville, OH died 8:05 A.M. Saturday, July 5, 2008 at the Golden Living Center, St.Marys following a short illness.
She was born September 5, 1920, in New Knoxville, OH, the daughter of Henry and Viola (Henkener) Lammers.
She married Elmer Hoelscher on June 18, 1942; he preceded her in death on November 12, 2007.
She is survived by:
¨ Son, Jerry (Judy) Hoelscher of New Knoxville, OH
¨ Daughter, Marsha Hayes of New Knoxville, OH
¨ 3 grandchildren: Shannon (Shawn) Spencer of Waterville, OH; Dionna (Ron) Duncan of Palm Harbor, FL; Denis (Natalie) Baker of Columbus, OH;
¨ 7 great-grandchildren: Chloe, Sam, Lydia, Grace, Rhys, Logan and Seth
¨ Sister, Jo Ann (Vernon) Feldwisch of New Knoxville, OH
¨ Sister-in-law, Wilma Lammers of New Knoxville, OH
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother, Lewis Lammers.
Martha was a 1938 graduate of New Knoxville High School and a graduate of Bowling Green State University. She was a retired elementary school teacher. She taught for two years in Wayne, OH and then served for 28 years at Moulton Elementary School, as part of the St.Marys City School System.
She was a member of the First United Church of Christ in New Knoxville. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, reading, traveling and square dancing. In past years she had belonged to the New Knoxville Community Singers. She was a wonderful grandmother and great-grandmother.
Funeral rites will be held 10:30 A.M. Friday, July 11, 2008, at the First United Church of Christ in New Knoxville, the Very Reverend David Williams, officiant. Burial will follow at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery, in New Knoxville.
Friends may call from 4:30-8:00 P.M. Thursday, in the Heritage Room of the First United Church of Christ, where memorial donations may be directed to the Radio Broadcast Fund of the Church.
Arrangements are by Vornholt-Miller Funeral Home 200 W. Spring Street in New Knoxville.
