David F. Hegemier, 84, of 18590 State Route 29, New Knoxville, died Monday, July 4, 2011, at his residence.
He was born June 22, 1927, in Auglaize County, Ohio, the son of August and Esther (Roediger) Hegemier.

He married Virginia “Ginny” Glass on November 1, 1947; she survives at the residence.

He is also survived by his seven children: Donna Tinnerman of New Knoxville; Dan (Joann) Hegemier of Saint Marys; Jess (Marta) Hegemier of League City, Texas; Tim (Anne) Hegemier of New Knoxville; Jeff (Ireta) Hegemier of Hudson, Ohio; Tessa (Scott) Koppin of Anna, Ohio; Julie Hegemier of New Knoxville; by 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; by one brother, Roland Hegemier of Saint Marys.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Donald Hegemier; Roger Hegemier and William Hegemier; by a son-in-law, Larry Tinnerman.

Dave was a 1945 graduate of Saint Marys Memorial High School. He was a lifelong farmer. He had played fast pitch softball for teams in Buckland, Saint Marys and Moulton. He had formerly served on the New Knoxville Board of Education and was a member of the First United Church of Christ in New Knoxille, where he had served as a deacon and elder of the church; he had also sung in the choir there for many years. He enjoyed camping and traveling. He will be remembered as a man who deeply loved his family and loved spending time with them.

Funeral rites will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday, July 9, 2011, at the First United Church of Christ in New Knoxville, Reverend David Williams, officiant. Burial will follow at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3-9 P.M. Friday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, where memorial donations may be directed to the Radio Broadcast Fund of the First United Church of Christ or Auglaize Industries.
