Andrew Donald Dixon, 79, of St.Marys, OH died peacefully 1:10 p.m. Monday March 10, 2008 at the St.Marys Living Center, with his family by his side.

Andy was born June 22, 1928 in Vandalia, OH to John C. & Helen (Stefanak) Dixon.

He will be sadly missed by his devoted companion of many years, Mary Jane Miars of St.Marys.

Andy is also survived by his loving children:

daughter Louise (Gary) Monaghan of Uniontown, PA

daughter Sheryl (Robert) Brand of Jacksonville, FL

daughter Sara (George) Hammermeister of Waynesville, OH

son Andrew (Melissa) Dixon, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL

daughter Patricia (Marc) Fullem of Bolingbrook, IL

10 grandchildren: Colin, Michol, Elise & Sean Monaghan; Garrett & Jordan Hammermeister; Natalie & Kelly Dixon; Lillian & Charlotte Fullem

sister Dorothy Sullivan of Laguna Niguel, CA

brother Robert (Carol) Dixon of Hot Springs, NC

sister-in-law Virginia Dixon of Hustonville, KY

numerous nieces, nephews & friends

He was preceded in death by: parents John & Helen Dixon, brothers John Edward Dixon & infant Richard Dixon; sister Rosetta Clooney

He received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Education form the University of Dayton, and Ph.D. degree in Education from Bowling Green State University. Over his career as an educator, he was an administrator and teacher who also coached football and basketball in several school districts throughout western Ohio. Following his retirement, he also worked as a guard for Pinkerton Security.

An outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was also an avid sports fan and loved his pets.

He was a member of the Eagles Lodge Aerie # 767 in St.Marys. He was Roman Catholic, by faith.

Services are scheduled 2:00 p.m. Saturday March 22, 2008 at the Miller Funeral Home (Ohio 703 West Chapel) in St.Marys, with the Rev. Anthony E. Cutcher, officiating. Private family burial will take place in the Riverside Cemetery, in West Milton, OH.

Visitation 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., and immediately following the services on Saturday at the funeral home on Ohio 703 West.

In lieu of flowers, donations may directed to the Auglaize Co. Humane Society.
