Floyd Dew, 88, formerly of 309 North Front Street, St.Marys, Ohio, and a resident of the St.Marys Living Center, died 5:50 P.M. Tuesday, August 7, 2007, at the Living Center.
He was born May 30, 1919, in Lima, Ohio, the son of William and Bertha (Lewis) Dew.
He married Elizabeth Schwede on June 5, 1971; she preceded him in death on May 29, 2003.
He is survived by a sister, Reba (George) Barbier of Lima, Ohio; by nephews Stanley (Mary) Barbier of Lima; Mike Barbier of Findlay; by several nieces.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sisters: Ena Vertner and Nettiemae Sherrick.
Floyd was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Pacific Theatre with the 32nd Infantry Division during WWII. He was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds sustained in war. He was a life member of the DAV and VFW Post 9289 in St.Marys.
He was a member of the Cooties Club.
Floyd retired from the State of Ohio Department of Natural Resources. He served at Lake Loramie State Park for many years. He had previously worked at the Lima Locomotive Works.
Floyd had attended the Saint Paul’s United Church of Christ in Saint Marys.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday, August 10, 2007, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St.Marys. Burial will follow at German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen.
Friends may call one hour prior to services on Friday at the funeral home.
