Bernice J. Thomas, 91, of 303 Morton Street, Celina, Ohio, died 12:17 Tuesday, October 18, 2011, at Mercer County Community Hospital following a sudden illness.

 

She was born August 16, 1920, in Lima, Ohio, the daughter of William and Minnie (Johnson) Hubble.

 

She married William Thomas on May 6, 1939 and he preceded her in death in March of 1974.

 

She is survived by a son: Kenneth (Susan) Thomas of Philadelphia, PA; a daughter, Sue Thomas Campbell of Celina; by a half-sister, Lura Doseck of Wapakoneta; a cousin, Helen Beer of Douglas, Michigan; by eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren and by many good neighbors.

 

She was preceded in death by  her parents, husband, two sons: William Thomas and Timothy Thomas; by a daughter, Barbara Thomas; two sisters: Mary Seigle and Virginia McCroskey; by a grandaughter, Mary Cambell Goubeau; a grandson, Jeffrey Curts.

 

Bernice was a homemaker and realtor. She attended high school at Saint Marys Memorial High School. She was an avid reader and gardener. She enjoyed studying genealogy and was a very loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Home Church.

 

Private family burial rites will be held 3:00 P.M. Friday, October 21, 2011, at Elm Grove Cemetery, Saint Marys. Condolences may be sent to the family via Millerfuneralhomes.net. Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, is entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
