Joseph A. Barber, 93, formerly of Glynwood, OH, died 12:46 a.m. Saturday April 19, 2008 at the Golden Living Center -- Valley in St.Marys, OH.

He was born March 5, 1915 in Wapakoneta, OH to Ray and Laura (Schneider) Barber.

ON June 6, 1942, he was married to Margaret Hoehn, who preceded him in death January 13, 1999.

He is survived by:

 son, Ray (Janet) Barber of St.Marys, OH

daughter, Kay (John) Mueller of St.Marys, OH

daughter, Patricia Barber of Patalaska, OH

7 grandchildren 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild

sister, Rosie Presar of Wapakoneta, OH

brother, Jim Barber of Wapakoneta, OH

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Raymond Barber; brother, Harry Barber; sister, Mary Hanak; by one great-grandchild.

He was a life-long farmer and retired from the Ohio Teledyne Steel Co. in Lima, OH

He was a member of the St..Patrick’s Catholic Church in Glynwood.He was a founding member of the Shawnee Long Rifles. He also entertained others playing dulcimer and banjo as a member of the Blackhoof Creek String Band, which he helped start in earlier years. He was an accomplished tool maker.

Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled 10:30 a.m. Thursday April 24, 2008 at the St.Patrick’s Catholic Church in Glynwood, with the Rev. Oscar H. Seger, celebrant. Burial will follow at the St.Thomas Cemetery in Glynwood.

Visitation will be held  2 - 4 & 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Miller - Long & Folk Funeral Home (High Street Chapel) in St.Marys.
