Benson Sumner Alexander, 80, of 11715
Kingfisher Lane in St.Marys, OH died 10:00 p.m. Monday October 26, 2009 at the
Otterbein Retirement Community, near Grand Lake St.Marys.
He was born May 1, 1929 in Coldwater, MI to Russell and
Emily (Beutler) Alexander.
On April 2, 1971, he married Ingri "Peggy" B. Movold, who
survives.

He was preceded in death by: parents, brothers Russell and
Robert Alexander, grandson Justin Schroepfer, step- granddaughter Melissa
Ranson
He was a 1947 graduate of Coldwater, MI High School and
attended Central Michigan University in Mt.Pleasant, MI.
He was a veteran of the US Army, having served during the
Korean Conflict.
He retired from the City of Port Huron, MI, where he served
as superintendent of the Port Huron City Cemetery. Prior to that, he operated
a Florsheim Shoes store in Port Huron and in water pollution control
for Port Huron Paper Mill.
Following their retirement, he and his wife moved to
Sebring, FL and the to St.Marys, OH.
An Episcopalian by faith, he was a member of St.Paul's
Episcopal Church in Port Huron, MI; St.Francis Espical Church in Sebring, FL;
St.James Episcopal Church in Piqua, OH.
He was a member and past exalted ruler of BPOE Lodge #343
in Port Huron, American Legion and Loyal Order of the Moose.
He was an avid beer drinker.
Funeral services are scheduled 2:30 p.m. Saturday October
31, 2009 at the Meyer Community Chapel at the Otterbein Retirement Community,
near Grand Lake St.Marys, with the Rev. Carol, officiating. Burial will take
place in the Oak Grove Cemetery, in Coldwater, MI.
Visitation after 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Otterbein.
