Robert E. Albright, 90, formerly of 792 Coventry Green in Saint Marys, died 3:10 A.M. Friday, April 1, 2011, at the Golden Living Center in Saint Marys.

He was born May 28, 1920, in Van Wert County, Ohio, the son of Eli and Minnie (Upp) Albright.

He married Clarabelle Heil on April 7, 1943 and she preceded him in death on January 11, 2008.

He is survived by his three children: Craig (Dottie) Albright of Saint Marys; Deb Tester of Wapakoneta; Kim (Carl) Fortman of Saint Marys; by six grandchildren: Lori (Dale) Brown; Jeff (Marcie) Albright; Chad Tester; Nikki (Jake) Sutton; Lyndsay (Steve) Simindinger; Kylie (Scot) Miller; by fourteen great-grandchildren; by two brothers: Dale Albright of Bluffton, Ohio; William Albright of Celina.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a son-in-law, Thomas Tester; sister, Donna Harner; and brother, Harvey Albright.

Bob was a graduate of Spencerville High School. He served in the US Army during WWII, and participated in the storming of Normandy. He retired from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Saint Marys, where he worked for 45 years.
He enjoyed going to gun shows and flea markets. In his earlier years he was a member of the Goodyear Fast Pitch Softball Team and played catcher in the fast pitch world series. He was a member of VFW Post 9289.

Funeral rites will be held 12:00 noon Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 West High Street, Saint Marys, the Reverend Steve Weatherly, officiant. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services on Tuesday at the funeral home, where memorial donations may be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.
